Peter Panned

So you finally caved and bought that button-up shirt with the rounded collar. You're wondering if you should dare wear it out and when, especially because something about it makes you look so.... trendy and youthful.

Don't worry, Peter Pan collars are appropriate for all ages and occasions. This is a fact, actually.

Back in Old Hollywood, all of your favorites wore Peter Pan collars:

Audrey Hepburn

Loretta Young

And celebrities wear them in New Hollywood too:

Kate Middleton

 Carey Mulligan
You can flaunt the collar at work with a conservative black skirt:

Under a trench coat or sweater:

Or barefoot in a garden at your wedding:

It's lovely as woven jewelry:

And also perfect for tea parties with friends:

Or for sprawling on benches in the park:

This delicate collar has resurfaced in nearly every decade because of its timelessness; the whimsical curve of the fabric has a way of transforming a plain shirt into a dramatic piece. A by-product of 1960s mod and school-girl fashions of the 20th century, and a staple of the hipster uniform in the 21st, Peter Pan collars have managed to stand the test of time. I guess its universal appeal is hard to deny.

Bye!
