Project Runway--Moment: late August 2010

This show has managed to be phenomenal for nearly eight whole seasons. Just when it was starting to slump into a pre-determined pattern of things (1 hour, 1 challenge, elimination, Fashion Week), it's shifted and changed into something brilliant. The blatant product-placement nothwithstanding (bluefly.com/piperlime.com accessory wall anyone?) the show's new emphasis on styling is basically, the bomb diggity.

And this added dimension isn't just an afterthought. Designers consult with stylists to create specific looks--from hair to makeup--that complement their creations--and I love it all.

Perhaps most importantly though, the producers have cast talented folks with actual (clashing) personalities. If any of you watched the latest episode (5) you'll see what I'm talking about (re: no spoilers here!). Now if only the designers would abandon their obsession with zippers! Perhaps it's the anxiety of influence at work. Jeffrey Sebelia and Seth Aaron (previous winners) heavily utilized these in their winning pieces.

Anyway, these are my brief, 1 a.m. thoughts about the show. I'm excited to see more!
