Humans have been obsessed with hearts since the dawn of our time. We sing about them, scribble them in notebooks when we're bored, and wear trinkets of them around our wrists.
In pop culture lately, we see our hearts stuffed with flowers and birds, hyper-real renderings against newspaper prints and shirts bought on Etsy.
When scaled down, hearts are perfect little decorations on tights:
and give simple femininity to skirts and necklines:
Like Louisa Young states above, the heart symbolizes many things, which is a great part of its appeal. The one below is inspired by Catholicism:
